EVENT 3: TYRE FLIP
Next up we had to do a end-over-end tyre flip over 25 meters for the fastest time. The tyre was quite large and heavy (I'd say in the 350 kg or 770 lb range) but it did offer excellent grip and felt really good. Once again the competition for first place was between Johan and me, with the two juniors, Driko and Willem quite close behind.
Some of the less experienced guys worked really hard to get to the finish line but all of them showed lots of character by going the full distance. It really was inspirational to see how hard some of the smaller guys worked and that they just did not give up.
The final result was quite close with me winning in 24.6 seconds followed by Johan on 27.6 seconds. Willem had a very good run on 29.8 seconds and Driko went an equally respectable 35.5 seconds. Trichardt did very well here by going the distance in 44.5 seconds while the other guys ranged between 50 seconds and 1 minute and 30 seconds.
I really enjoyed the tyre flip as the weight was just right and the tyre was one of those which tends to fall flat dead, without first wobbling a bit, allowing you to be ready for the next flip as soon as the it hits the concrete, saving precious fractions of a second each time.
